Chongmen (SP 12)

Location

Superior to the lateral end of the inguinal groove, lateral to the femoral artery, at the level of the upper border of the symphysis pubis, 3.5 cun lateral to Qugu (CV 2).

Indications
  • Abdominal pain, hernia
  • Dysuria
Applications
  • Invigorates blood, regulates qi, unblocks the channel
  • Drains damp, clears heat and regulates urination
Balance Method: 
Techniques

Needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun. Deep insertion is not advisable as it may puncture the femoral artery in the medial direction, or the femoral nerve in the lateral direction.
