Wailaogong (Ex-UE8)

Location

With the fist clenched, the point is located on the dorsum of the hand between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones, in the depression 0.5 cun proximal to the metacarpophalangeal joint.

 

Indications
  • Hand and finger numbness, hand redness and swelling, inability to flex or extend fingers
  • Neck pain, headache
  • Diarrhea, loose stool, indigestion
  • Acute or chronic onvulsions in children, tetanus in newborns, indigestion in children
Applications
  • Relaxes the sinews, opens the channels and collaterals
  • Harmonizes the middle jiao, regulates qi
Techniques

Perpendicular needling 0.5-0.8 cun. Moxa for 3-5 minutes.

Remarks
  • This point is also known as Sudden Pain 叉气、Neck Discomfort 项强、Fallen Zero Five 落零五、Fallen Pillow 落枕
  • Although mentioned in different texts, Wailaogong (Ex-UE8) and Luozhen (Ex-UE14) appear to have the same point location.
