Yixi (BL 45)

Location

3 cun lateral to the midline, level with the lower border of the spinous process of T6 and Dushu (BL 16), on the spinal border of the scapula.

  • Cough, asthma
  • Pain of the shoulder and back

  • Expels wind, clears heat, descends Lung qi
  • Invigorates qi and blood, alleviates pain

Techniques

Needle obliquely downward 0.3-0.5 cun. Perpendicular insertion is not advisable as it may cause pneumothorax.
