Lower 5

Location
Lower 5 follows the Gallbladder Shaoyang Channel on the lateral side of the lower leg. It is located 3 cun above the lateral malleolus, at the posterior border of the fibula, in a shallow groove between the border of the fibula and the tendon of m. peroneus longus.
Indications

Lower Body Conditions in Region 5

  • Lumbar: transverse process syndrome of third lumbar vertebra, low back pain [b], flank pain [b], acute lumbar sprain [b], lumbar muscle strain [b]
  • Hip: hip pain [b]
  • Lower limbs: lateral leg pain, lateral ankle pain, meralgia paresthetica [b]
  • Other: training injuries with pain in the lower body of Region 5 [b]
Techniques

WAA Lower

Insert the needle at a 5 to 30-degree angle and slowly push the needle forward subcutaneously for 1.5 cun towards the knee, parallel to the leg.

If the problem is distal to the point (for example, on the foot or toes), insert the needle in the opposite direction towards the ankle. In this case, move the insertion point away from the ankle slightly so there's sufficient room to push the needle forward without hurting the joint.
