Wuhu (T 11.27)

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 11.27 Wuhu, is a five-point set evenly distributed along the radial aspect of the proximal phalanx of the thumb, at the border between the palmar and dorsal aspects of the thumb between the red and the white skin (line A). The points are numbered so that the most distal is the 1st point and the most proximal is the 5th point. Each point is 2 fen from the next point.

Indications
Primary: 
  • Bone disorders: arthritis, bone spurs, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, painful bones, osteoporosis, gout, toe pain, knee pain, ankle pain, heel pain, hand pain, finger pain
  • Pain disorders: fibromyalgia, general bodyache, pain as a side effect of medication use
Secondary: 
  • Pneumonia, tonsillitis, lymphadenitis, bronchitis
  • Vertex headache
  • Hepatomegaly, liver cirrhosis

Techniques
  • Needle 0.1 - 0.2 cun for upper body disorders, 0.2 - 0.4 cun for lower body disorders.
  • The needle needs to touch the tendon or the bone.
  • Needle contralateral to the affected side.
  • This point also can be bled to release blood or clear/yellowish fluids.
