- Needle the following points on the side opposite the pain: Hegu (LI 4), Houxi (SI 3), Wangu (SI 4), Linggu (T 22.05), Dabai (T 22.04), Zhongbai (T 22.06), Dazhong (KI 4) or ah shi points nearby, Fuliu (KI 7), Ququan (LR 8) or ah shi points nearby
- Needle the following points on the same side as the pain: All ah shi points nearby Chize (LU 5), Kongzui (LU 6), Shaohai (HT 3) to Lingdao (HT 4), Shugu (BL 65)
- Needle ah shi points around Fengfu (GV 16) to Houding (GV 19).
- Needle the opposite side of the pain. If the pain is bilateral, needle bilaterally.
- Herniated disc: Kongzui (LU 6), 2 needles from Kongzui (LU 6), 2 needles from Chengshan (BL 57) to Feiyang (BL 58), Kunlun (BL 60), thread needle from Dazhong (KI 4) to Taixi (KI 3), Linggu (T 22.05), Dabai (T 22.04)
- Gluteus muscles or rotators involved: Needle two points on the opposite side of the pain from Jianzhen (SI 9) to Naoshu (SI 10), 3 to 5 more needles on ashi points around Naoshu (SI 10) and make sure the needle is DEEP into the muscles.
- Needle the same side of the pain Zulinqi (GB 41) deeply.
- SI Joint: Needle Cole’s SI joint point on the opposite side of the pain. It is is distal to the ulnar, lateral and medial to Yanglao (SI 6). This point is directly opposite of Shenmen (HT 7). Angle of needling should be towards Shenmen (HT 7) as well.
- Bone Spur: 2 to 5 needles on the pisiform bone, tapping the bone, ashi points on the occipital bone.
