Sanling (T 44.18)*

Location

The Master Tung Acupuncture point, T 44.18* Sanling, is a three-point set consisting of a central point 0.5 cun proximal to Quze (PC 3), which is on the ulnar side of the tendon m. biceps brachii on the transverse crease of the elbow. The two others points are 0.5 cun radial and 0.5 cun ulnar to the first.

Indications
Primary: 

Acute heart attack, acute angina, chest stuffiness, chest oppression, chest tightness, chest pain radiating to the upper back Gaohuangshu (BL 43) area, difficulty breathing from insufficient oxygen to the heart

Techniques
  • Needle 1 - 2 cun perpendicularly or obliquely.
  • This point should be bled for optimal effect. Look for a dark vein or shadow to bleed. Squeezing out black blood will yield better effects than squeezing out red blood.
